Abstract
Carbon disulfide (CS20 is utilized primarily in the manufcture of viscose rayon but also the vulcanization of rubber, and in the manufacture of cellophane. CS2 may cause central and peripheral neurological disturbances and it has toxic effects on
the
various organs such as skin, eye, ear, and respiratory, cardiovascular, gastroinktestinal, hepatic, genitourinary, hematological and endocrine system.
It was suggested that CS2 cause atherogenesis in the vascular system, and this atherogenic effect is thought to be responsible for the renal impairment caused by chronic CS2 intoxication.
We report 2 cases of chronic renal failure resulted from CS2 intoxication, engaged in the viscose rayon industry for more than 10 years, are undergoing hemodialysis.
